Hello, My teen really wants to learn Old English. We would love to buy your book but it is a bit too pricey once we factor in international shipping/exchange rate. Do you have a digital or audio version available?
Also, are there any other tools my child could use to start learning? They are also interested in finding others to speak with. Do you know of any virtual communities for lovers of Old English?
Hi Sylvie! I'm so glad to year you've got a budding Old English scholar in the house. There's an audiobook forthcoming although we don't have a release date for it yet. As for an ebook version, it's not currently planned but I know the publishers are open-minded about the possibility (and that they take customer emails in support of an ebook seriously).
In the meantime they might enjoy using the stories in Henry Sweet's "First Steps in Anglo-Saxon." They're a bit harder going than Ōsweald Bera is, but they have similar goals — to get people reading easy Old English: https://archive.org/details/firststepsinang00sweegoog
There are some Old English-oriented communities on Reddit, Facebook, and Discord but I'm not active in any myself, so I can't say for certain whether they'd be a good fit for your teen.
